HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – An envelope containing a dangerous substance locked down the Hendersonville Police Department for hours on Thursday.

A couple brought the letter containing a suspicious white powder to the officer at the front desk around 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the building on Executive Park Drive. The department was quarantined with 32 people inside until 8:30 p.m. when officials determined things to be safe.

Initial tests found the material was believed to contain a small amount of boric acid, which is classified as a dangerous substance.

Police believe the threat was limited to the couple who received the letter. They said there was not evidence anyone else was targeted.

Investigators were working on leads to determine who sent the letter.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Hendersonville Police Department at 615-822-1111 or the Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at 615-573-5400.  Tips can also be texted to CRIMES (274637) using keyword TIPHPD.
