COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – An overturned concrete truck forced the closure of part of Interstate 40 westbound in Putnam County for hours on Thursday evening.

The wreck happened just before 6 p.m. near mile marker 280. Authorities said the driver, James Vaughan from Nashville, ran into the median, overcorrected, and then flipped the truck.

He was transported by LifeForce to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Westbound traffic was affected with a portion of the interstate being closed until after 11 p.m.

Eastbound traffic was not affected.
