CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Montgomery County woman has been on a mission to bring what she said was a much needed service to Clarksville.

Toi Dennis opened Serenity House Women's Shelter out of her own home where she has been conducting various clothing drives. She said she is looking for funding to open up a permanent facility where she would be able to help even more women and children.

Dennis said Clarksville doesn't have a dedicated women and children's shelter. The city's homeless population has been growing. She said she would like help them move from homelessness into a transitional housing system.

"That physical location would allow us to actually house women and children and provide them with a place to sleep, and provide them a transitional counseling program that we're trying to put together for them," Dennis said.

If you would like to donate to the women's shelter or provide funds for a new location, you can send them an email by clicking on this link.  You can also call the Serenity House Women's Shelter at 931-320-9485.
