LEBANON, Tenn. – Police have been searching for two suspects they believe were responsible for a meth explosion in Wilson County.

The explosion occurred around 7 p.m. Saturday at the Travel Inn Motel located at 914 Murfreesboro Road in Lebanon. Police said the two suspects were cooking meth in room 272 when the ingredients exploded, causing the outer wall of the room to collapse and fall onto the balcony outside.

Travelers staying at the hotel said it sounded like an vehicle collision from inside their rooms.

"It was loud enough where it literally sounded like two semi's colliding it really did and it shook everything in our room," said Sarah Hall, who was staying a few rooms away from the blast.

Hall was relieved none of the hotel's guests were injured in the blast.

"Why would they do it," asked Hall. "Just for a quick high, really? There are kids around, people around. Why destroy other people's property?"

Police said the meth was cooked using two or three soda bottles. They said the impact of the explosion is what makes meth so dangerous.

"That's concrete and steel and it blew out," said Chief Scott Bowen with the Lebanon Police Department. "So you can tell how much pressure and dangerous these things are."

Technicians were brought in to clean-up the chemicals in the area. Police said officials with the Meth Task force would be brought in to further investigate the explosion.

No one was injured in the blast.

Witnesses said they saw two men running from the room but police haven't made any arrests.
