WESTMORELAND, Tenn. – A teacher at a Sumner County elementary school was injured when a car struck her on Friday morning.

Westmoreland Police said the 39-year-old second grade teacher at Westmoreland Elementary School was helping with drop-off when a vehicle struck her, knocking her to the ground.

The parent who was driving the vehicle told police that the sun was in her eyes after dropping off her child, and she did not see the teacher.

The teacher, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It was unclear if any charges would be filed.
