'Standable' Desks Bring Nashville Business Big Bucks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It's the latest fad around the office: desks you adjust so you can stand behind them instead of sit.

Medical experts said it's healthier for you and believe it or not, can even make you more productive at work.

UpDesk is a company that manufactures the adjustable desks in Nashville, and folks there say the idea seems to be catching on because sales for the desks have skyrocketed over just the last year or so.

The business cites studies that show sitting all day long contributes to cardiovascular disease and even diabetes in women.

"It's good for your blood circulation and it's good for your back," said Jackie Dreher of 2 Danes Furniture in Nashville, who sells adjustable desks.  "Our bodies weren't made to sit all day long."

The adjustable desks don't seem to be just a local fad.  UpDesk says it has sold adjustable desks to every state in the U.S, and even overseas to Australia and Canada.
