NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A Middle Tennessee mother has a lot of questions for school officials after she says her four-year-old daughter was able to walk away from her preschool in the middle of the day without anyone noticing.

The incident happened Friday in Murfreesboro at Bellwood-Bowdoin Preschool.

Audra Scales said her four-year-old daughter, Shyvaughn Lewis, thought the school day was over when she couldn't find any of her classmates or teachers at the school. She said her daughter walked out the front door and down several blocks before a family friend spotted her at the corner of Bradyville Road and Middle Tennessee Boulevard.

Shyvaughn's mother said she wants to know why her daughter was able to leave the school without anyone noticing in the first place.

"This was just a regular day, and nobody saw her," said Scales.  "Where are the people who watch her?  It's not safe."

The Murfreesboro City Schools said they were looking into their security procedures to make sure this kind of incident doesn't happen again.
