Employees Evacuated After Fire At Smyrna Nissan Plant

SMYRNA, Tenn. – Employees were evacuated overnight after a minor fire inside the Nissan Plant in Smyrna.

Nissan safety and emergency response personnel responded to the fire in the body assembly area of the plant early Thursday morning.

Nissan Corporate Communication Manager Justin P. Saia said in a statement that employees in the immediate area were briefly evacuated. No injuries were reported.

An investigation was underway to "determine the cause and implement corrective measures," according to Saia.

The extent of the damage from the fire was not released.
