Family Displaced After Murfreesboro House Fire

Posted: Updated:

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A family has been displaced after a fire broke out inside their home in Rutherford County.

Officials with the Murfreesboro Fire Department said the fire broke out before 5 p.m Sunday, inside a home located at 610 Federal Court in Murfreesboro.

Firefighters said they arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front porch area and the right side of the house.

Dale Maynard, shift commander with the department said it did not take long to put out the fire.

"Even though the fire had a pretty good jump on us, we didn't have to use much water on it," said Maynard.

Department officials said most of the damage was contained to the porch and front, right side of the home. They said the neighboring house also received minor heat damage to the siding.

The American Red Cross has been called in to assist the family.

No other details about the fire were immediately known.
