GALLATIN, Tenn. – Police in Gallatin have arrested a man for allegedly reporting a fake home invasion on Wednesday morning.

Gallatin Police charged 27-year-old Fernando Rayas with filing a false report and reckless endangerment for firing a shot inside his home with a child present.

Police were called to the home on Woods Ferry Road just after 5 a.m. Rayas allegedly told police he heard a noise in his home, and found a man wearing a hoodie inside the home with a handgun.

Rayas told police the intruder raised his gun at him, so he fired a shot at him.

Officers searched the immediate area, but found no sign of an intruder. They interviewed Rayas at the police department where officers determined no crime was committed.
