Rainy, Windy Day Creates Slow Commute

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - As a strong storm system rolled into Middle Tennessee, operators of TDOT's Help Trucks stayed busy trying to keep the roads clear and safe.

"When the rain starts coming down people don't take into consideration the oils in the roads and the hazards that are present when rain pops up, they act like they could drive on a sunny day," explained Karl Wright who drives one of the bright yellow trucks.

Wright's main job during the day is to help out stranded motorists by giving them gas, fixing a flat or moving traffic over when there's an accident.

On rainy, windy days like Thursday the numbers of incidents he has to respond to increases dramatically.
