Unwanted Guest To Blame For Wedding Day Interruption

COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Weddings are supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life, but we've all heard the stories about weddings gone bad. For one mid-state couple, they weren't battling an unruly guest or mother nature but one of her helpers who had a hand in this wedding day story.

Several 911 calls set the day in motion, not just for emergency responders but a couple looking forward to sharing a milestone in their relationship.

"It was a pretty day and everything was supposed to go smoothly," said Kendall Wilhoite.

A fire sparked outside of Maury Hills Church of Christ. It not only created a scene during Kendall and Cameron Wilhoite's wedding, but the flames also shut off the lights to the building.

"I was praying Lord please let the power come back on, but if this is your will, so be it," said Kendall Wilhoite.

Perhaps the most disturbing part of it all was who was to blame. A buzzard flew into a power line and caught it on fire.

It wasn't the day the Wilhoites may have dreamed about, but really whose wedding day is?

"It was nice. It was a little bump in the road but we tried to work it out," said Kendall Wilhoite. "It was perfect. Not everybody can have this story, but they said it was romantic getting married in a candle-lit ceremony."

The couple may still be in good spirits about what happened, but they're already facing the next challenge in their relationship, which is trying to find time to take their honeymoon.
