Korean War Veteran Awarded Purple Heart

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Korean War veteran has been awarded the Purple Heart more than 60 years after being wounded.

On Monday, Earl G. Taylor was recognized by Major General Terry "Max" Haston, Tennessee's adjutant general, with the medal for wounds sustained in combat.

Taylor was wounded on January 22, 1951, while serving near the city of Taegu with the U.S. Army's Second Infantry Division.

The ceremony was held in the Hall of Flags at the Tennessee National Guard Joint Task Force Headquarters on 3041 Sidco Dr. in Nashville.
