DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. – Officials said the victim killed in a collision on Interstate 40 in Dickson County has been identified.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said 75-year-old William Slate of Maryland was killed in the multiple vehicle collision Friday on I-40.
Investigators said the crash was the result of slowed traffic near at marker 176 near State Route 840. The collision involved three tractor trailers. They said the first and second truck were able to stop, but the third, driven by Slate, ran right into the second causing it to hit the first.
Responders at the scene also reported fire from the accident caught brush in the area on fire.
Students in the Academy of Energy and Power at Maplewood are busy getting ready for next week's Project Expo and had the opportunity to show it off some of their projects to Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper.
