78-Year-Old Man Killed In Minivan, Dump Truck Collision

BELLEVUE, Tenn. – A 78-year-old man was killed after a minivan and dump truck collided in Bellevue Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 2:20 p.m. at the intersection of Charlotte Pike and Sawyer Brown Road. According to police, the Dodge minivan pulled into the path of the dump truck. The vehicles collided and the minivan rolled several times.

The driver of the van, Dial Delk of Nashville, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. 

The driver of the dump truck, 40-year-old Robert Smiley of Mt. Juliet, was not seriously hurt in the crash.

There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene of the crash. The roadway was shutdown while police worked to clear the scene.
