CHARLOTTE, Tenn.  Police in Dickson County said they are investigating an apparent Halloween prank in which three cars were torched.

Kasei Haddix said she was asleep Friday, November 1 when her family discovered her son's Chevrolet Impala was on fire in their front yard.

"Where the gas tank is, it had flames coming out," she said Thursday. "It could have exploded."

It did not take long for the family to realize they were just the first that night.

By morning, three vehicles had been torched.

Detective Brent Johnson with the Dickson County Sheriff's Office said two cars and a pickup truck were all set on fire. He believed teenagers may have been carrying out a late a Halloween prank that went way too far.

"The tank on the car was half-way full of gas, so I mean when you stick something down in it and light it there's no telling what might happen after that point," he said. "Not only are you destroying somebody's personal property, but you're endangering lives as well."

Haddix said that was what scared her the most.

"I've had my house rolled. That doesn't really bother me. Smashing pumpkins wouldn't have bothered me. A vehicle being set on fire was… it was a wakeup call that our children, our youth are a little out of control right now and we need to do something to let them know this isn't ok behavior," she said.

She said she hoped investigators could find who was behind this alleged prank, so they can get back to feeling safe in their own home.

"I would like to go to bed at night and not be afraid of every noise I hear," she said.

Johnson said a state bomb and arson investigator has been assisting so it may not be long until they're able to make arrests.

If you have information about these arsons, call the Dickson County Sheriff's Office at (615) 789-4130. You can remain anonymous.
