NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Thousands will be running the streets of downtown Nashville Saturday morning for the Hard Rock Café Nashville Marathon and half marathon. That means many roads will be closed.

The race starts at 7 a.m. Saturday on Lower Broadway at the Hard Rock at 1st Avenue South and Broadway. Runners from all over the country are expected to take part in the race.

"I am secretly trying to do a marathon in every state, so this is my fifth state this year," said Janet Fredrickson who is visiting Nashville from Terry, Montana. "We like to stay healthy and run. We like to travel, so we combine the two."

The limit for half marathon is 4 hours, and the full marathon is 7 hours-- so drivers should expect roads to be shut down into the midday. There will also be a block party on Broadway following the race.

Organizers said they were expecting well over 2,000 runners to take to the streets on Saturday.

Roads including James Robertson Parkway, Demonbreun Street, Division Street, 11th Avenue south, and Music Square will all be shut down. Parts of east Nashville and around LP Field will also be closed.

Woodland Street will mark halfway for the full marathon.
