Titans Asking For Used Cell Phones For Soldiers

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Titans are asking fans coming to Sunday's game against Jacksonville not to forget their used cellphones.

Local college ROTC students will be helping collect those used cellphones before kickoff to benefit a program called "Cell Phones for Soldiers."

The nonprofit group collects and recycles old cellphones. Proceeds from the program buys prepaid phone cards for military families to reach soldiers serving around the world. Since being founded in 2004, the "Cell Phones for Soldiers" charity has provided 192 million minutes of free phone time with an average of 12,000 calling cards distributed each week through care package programs, bases worldwide, deployment ceremonies and VA hospitals.
