Suspects Arrested After Theft, Police Pursuit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said two suspects have been arrested after a robbery and police pursuit.

Officials with the Nashville Police Department said 20-year-old Kevin Sowell and 28-year-old Carlos Murillo were arrested after police said they stole a pickup truck and a trailer, attempted to burglarize an ATM machine and later evaded arrest.

Police said the theft occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday. They said the two suspects stole a pickup truck and a trailer, and drove into the ATM building of a Suntrust Bank located on McGavock Pike where they attempted to steal the ATM machine from the building.

Officials said officers attempted to stop the suspects when the driver rammed the police vehicle and fled the scene. Police said the driver of the vehicle rammed a second police car during the pursuit on Cave Road. After a length pursuit, police said the two suspects bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot where they were apprehended.

Sowell was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on police officers, auto theft, theft, evading arrest, DUI, driving on revoked license and drug possession. Murillo was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on police officers, auto theft, theft and evading arrest.

Two officers sustained minor during the pursuit.
