SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – A middle Tennessee band is helping make a Bedford county teen's dreams come true, after she lost her father to cancer less than two months ago.

Lauren Clanton's dad David had always wanted his daughter to share her singing talents with others.

Before he died from leukemia six weeks ago, it was his wish that Lauren would perform at an upcoming concert in Shelbyville early next year.

Members from the band "Burning Yesterday" surprised Lauren with the news on Saturday, inviting her to sing with them at the upcoming concert.

She gleefully accepted.

She said when she takes the stage in February, her performance with the band will be in honor of her father.

"The way I want to remember him is by singing, because that's all he ever wanted me to do," said Lauren.  "I just want to make him proud."

Lauren will be performing with the band "burning yesterday" as part of the "Rewarding Our Kids" Concert at Shelbyville's Calsonic Arena on February 22nd.
