Man Steals Van, Crashes It After Leading Police On Short Pursuit

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A robber stole a van and later crashed it following a brief police chase in south Nashville early Thursday morning.

Police said the one of the women was pumping gas while the other waited in the car at the Delta Express on Harding Place when the man approached them with a knife around 12:50 a.m.

He demanded the woman get back into the van, but instead she told the other woman to get out. That's when police said he got into the vehicle and fled the scene.

Officers spotted the stolen van a short time later, and initiated a pursuit when he refused to stop. The pursuit was terminated near Harding Place at Nolensville Pike once it reached excessive speeds.

Less than five minutes later, police found the van crashed near the Dominion House Apartments on Linbar Avenue. The robber had fled the scene before police arrived. K-9 was called to the scene, but did not find the man.
