Fire Evacuates Hendersonville Nursing Home

Posted: Updated:

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – A nursing home in Hendersonville was evacuated due to a fire on Friday morning.

A heating system malfunctioned at National Health Care at 370 Old Shackle Island Road.

When firefighters arrived around 5:45 a.m. they found small flames and smoke coming from inside the building.

"All residents were evacuated beyond the smoke doors. Nobody was injured. There was minimal damage, and the residents will be able to re-occupy their rooms," said Bob Galoppi with the Hendersonville Fire Department.

The nursing home's safety plan of moving residents to a remote part of the building kept patients from having to go outside. The blaze was contained to small area.
