Man Found Guilty Of Attempted Murder In Columbia

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – A man accused of slamming his truck into a convenience store in Columbia in an attempt to run down his ex-girlfriend was found guilty of attempted murder.

A jury convicted Eric Whitaker on Thursday. His trial began earlier this week, and the key piece of evidence was surveillance video that showed the incident from December 2011.

The video showed Whitaker crashed his pickup truck into the Columbia Market, missing the woman, but injuring the store's owner.

He then attempted to steal an SUV in the parking lot, but crashed head-on into a delivery truck.

Whitaker still faces charges for reckless endangerment, and aggravated assault.
