NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It was the viral story that spread around the world in minutes, a Christmas movie classic is getting a re-boot.

A Nashville studio owner has written a sequel for the 1946 classic "It's a Wonderful Life."

Bob Farnsworth, owner of Hummingbird Studio, sat down with NewsChannel 5 for his first TV interview since the news broke on Monday.

Internet comments have been pretty critical of the idea, but Farnsworth said he's a huge fan of the original and wants nothing more than for this story to compliment and carry on where the original left off.

"We keep referring to it as 'the rest of the story' because somehow 'sequel' does not (fit,)" Farnsworth said. The press has been using that word. What we're doing is about the grandson, and we really do think of it as the rest of the story."

It's already got the support of one of the original, surviving cast members.

The movie is set for release around Christmas of 2015. Farnsworth is still in the process of choosing a director and assembling a crew.
