Hopkinsville Councilwoman Resigns To Avoid Charges

Posted: Updated:

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A southern Kentucky city councilwoman has been forced to resign to avoid criminal charges.

Hopkinsville councilwoman Ann Cherry was indicted a year ago for tampering with evidence, after she gave the media information about a police investigation.

To avoid prosecution, she resigned from office and has agreed to never run for a city office again.

The case in question was a naked prowler who was caught on home security cameras trying door handles in a south Hopkinsville neighborhood.

Cherry said the charges were politically motivated, but agreed to the terms to spare her family the stress of a trial.
