NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Democratic lawmaker is filing legislation that he hopes will lead to major contract reform in Tennessee following a NewsChannel 5 investigation.

Auditors recently confirmed questions about the Haslam administration's multi-million dollar contract with the big real-estate firm Jones Lang Lasalle.

JLL gets paid to give the state advice on its buildings, then it gets paid again to carry out that advice.

Sen. Lowe Finney's bill would adopt rules like the federal government has in place to avoid such conflicts of interest.

"And it basically says that when a company is in a consultant role, such as we have seen here, that they then would be prevented from profiting off of their own recommendations to the state," the Jackson Democrat told NewsChannel 5 Investigates.

It's legislation that was suggested by auditors, who work for Tennessee's Republican comptroller.

Finney expects to file his bill later this week.
