Daycare Owner Accused Of Choking Child

ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. - A preschool owner is in trouble with the law after one of her students claims she choked him for playing in water.

It doesn't take long to see that 4-year-old Dalton Forsythe is full of energy.

His mother Misty Forsythe said, "Dalton is a very outgoing, rough-housing little fella."

So it wasn't surprising what Dalton's preschool teacher told Misty when she picked him up early in October from Over the Rainbow Pre-School in Ashland City for a doctor appointment.

"She said his shirt sleeves may be wet because he was playing in the water," said Misty.

She says that wasn't shocking or unusual, but what was shocking is what she saw when she took Dalton's shirt off at his pediatrician's office.

"When I pulled off his shirt I immediately noticed what looked like figure prints," said Misty. "It looked like blood brought to the surface of the skin and I said, 'Dalton it looks like someone grabbed you,' and he said she did. I said who did? He said 'Ms. Amanda.'"

Misty said when she tried to take photos later that night most of the markings were barely visible. She said the next day she went to police to file a report.

"I just want someone that I can trust him with. At this point I am scared to put him in another daycare center, because I don't have trust," said Misty.

NewsChannel 5 reached out to the owner and the woman accused of choking Dalton and she denied the request to give her side of the story on camera, but she did tell us these allegations are false.

She also said that her attorney said the case has been closed and found there was not an incident, but a Department of Children Services, DCS, spokesperson said the case is indeed still open.

The district attorney's office in Cheatham County said their case is not only still open, but will go before the grand jury next month.

The Department of Human Services also said they worked with DCS on an investigation involving the Over the Rainbow PreSchool in Ashland City.
