16-Year-Old Boy Injured In South Nashville Shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 16-year-old boy was shot in the parking lot of a south Nashville apartment complex on Wednesday night.

Police said the teen showed up at the Southern Hills Hospital emergency room with a gunshot wound to his hip around 9:20 p.m.

The victim told police that he was in the parking lot of the Pagoda Apartment complex on Welch Road with some friends when a man wearing a hoodie came from behind the building and opened fire.

The 16-year-old's injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. No one was else was hurt.

The victim told police he did not know the shooter, or why the man opened fire. Police said it did not appear to be a robbery attempt, but they continued to investigate.
