BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Three people were taken to the hospital after a head-on collision in Brentwood early Monday morning.

Police said a Chrysler was traveling in the eastbound lanes of Old Hickory Boulevard near Valley View Drive when it went into the westbound lanes and collided with a Toyota Corolla around 3:30 a.m.

The male driver of the Corolla was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His female passenger was taken to Southern Hills Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Chrysler was taken to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.

No identities were released.

Police said alcohol did not play a factor, but prescription medication was found in the vehicle that caused the crash. Blood testing will be done on the driver of the Chrysler to determine if it played a role in the crash.

Two lanes of the roadway remained closed while police investigated the crash.
