MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Firefighters were called out to a house fire in Rutherford County after reports of a blaze and people possibly trapped inside.

The fire broke out Thursday around 4:30 p.m. at 215 E McKnight Drive in Murfreesboro. Officials said the call first came in as a person or people entrapped, but they were unable to find any victims.

Investigators were able to determine no one was home at the time of the fire.

The fire began towards the rear of the home. Officials said the cause seemed to be accidental.

"They did an outstanding job containing the fire damage to the addition of the home which consisted of a kitchen/dining area, living room area, and utility room," said Assistant Fire Marshal Michael Bartlett with the Murfreesboro Fire Department.

The exact cause of the fire was not determined. Fire investigators expected to return to the house Monday to determine how the fire ignited.

An estimate of damages was not available.
