NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Nashville businessman is launching a new app designed to help citizens have more influence on the issues they care about.

Duncan Dashiff said the iCitizen app allows users to monitor issues through news feeds, proposed bills and historical time lines. App users also can see how their state and federal elected officials vote, what bills they sponsor, who contributes to their campaigns, what committees they serve on and how to contact them.

The app also offers a polling capability, allowing users to express their views on the issues and to rate their legislators.

ICitizen is now available for iPhone and is scheduled to be available for Android in the first quarter of 2014.
