Memorial Service Set For Singer Killed At Nashville Bar

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A memorial service has been set for singer-songwriter Jerald Wayne Mills, who was shot and killed at the Pit and Barrel in the early morning hours of November 23.

Police said he was killed by bar owner Chris Ferrell, whose claims of self-defense remained under investigation.

The memorial service will be held in Mill's hometown of Arab, Alabama, on Sunday, December 8.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the auditorium of Arab High School.  The memorial service will begin in the auditorium at 1:30 p.m.  A private burial will follow.

Mills toured with the Wayne Mills Band, which played college towns for more than 15 years. Country music stars Jamey Johnson and Blake Shelton, as well as American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, all opened for the band in their early careers, according to the group's website.

Mills graduated from the University of Alabama with an education degree, and also played football for the school, according to the band's website.

A fund has been established for Wayne Mills' wife Carol and son Jack.
