NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Nashville man has been arrested after police said he critically injured his neighbor during an altercation.

Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said 64-year-old Don Fisher was arrested Tuesday at the Greyhound Bus Station, located at 709 5th Avenue South in Nashville. He is accused of injuring 47-year-old Steven Smith during an attack.

Police said Fisher and Smith got into an argument Friday afternoon. They said Fisher attacked and struck the victim multiple times during the fight. A warrant was later issued for his arrest. Officials said they believe Fisher was planning to board a bus bound for Memphis at the time of his arrest.

According to investigators, Smith has been recovering from his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Fisher was charged with attempted criminal homicide. Police said he has also been convicted of assault in the past.

Fisher was booked on $500,000 bond.
