Former Robertson County Sheriff Passes Away

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. - A man who spent more than 50 years working in public safety in Tennessee has passed away.

Former Robertson County Sheriff Gene Bollinger died Monday night at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.

Bollinger worked with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and became Sheriff in 2001. He retired in 2010.

He was 82 years old. He is survived by his wife, daughters, and two grandchildren.

Visitation has been set for Friday and Saturday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. A visitation has been planned for Sunday at Springfield Baptist Church from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral begins at 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Lions Club or to the Robertson County Habitat for Humanity and sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
