Driver Strikes Fire Hydrant, Water Floods Roadway

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A section of Old Hickory Boulevard in Antioch was shut down after an early morning crash flooded the roadway.

Police said a driver lost control of his vehicle, and struck a fire hydrant near the intersection with Pettus Road around 2 a.m. Water flooded the roadway.

The unidentified driver was not hurt.

Metro Public Works was called to the scene to clean up two to three inches of mud in the roadway, but it was unclear when it would reopen. Metro Police had officers on the scene to help with traffic.

The road did not suffer any structural damage.
