Humboldt Murder Suspect On TBI's Most Wanted List

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has added a murder suspect from Humboldt to its Top 10 Most Wanted list.

The TBI says 27-year-old Albert Jones Smith Jr. is wanted on a first-degree murder charge in the shooting Sunday of 20-year-old Titus Middlebrook.

Investigators say Middlebrook was killed while in the front seat of a car in Humboldt.

The TBI said Wednesday it made an arrest in the case. Cameron Michael Bufford has been charged with aggravated assault. Investigators believe he tried to drag Middlebrook from his car while Smith held Middlebrook at gunpoint.

The TBI says Smith is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Smith's whereabouts is urged to call TBI or the Humboldt Police Department. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
