Arctic Blast Bringing Chance of Weekend Wintry Weather

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Wednesday saw highs in the 70s, now a arctic blast is on it's way.

Parts of Middle Tennessee and Kentucky are under a winter storm watch or warning for the end of the week.

The National Weather Service issued the watch staring 9 a.m. Friday to midnight.  Some of the counties affected include Montgomery, Cheatham, Dickson, and Hickman in Tennessee,

In Kentucky,  Todd, Christian and Trigg County are under a winter storm warning. For a full list of the entire weather advisory area click HERE.

The main threat is not snow, but ice. The NWS say freezing rain could result in up to a half inch of ice by Friday night.

The best chance of seeing disruptive wintry weather will be in northwestern Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky.

In the Nashville area, rain is expected to change to light freezing rain by Saturday morning.

Officials are expecting the possibility of power outages and slick roads.

Another round of rain, likely ending as snow, will move in Sunday before tapering off on Monday giving us a threat for problems with travel Monday morning.
