NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was critically injured after police said he was robbed and shot inside of his home.

Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said 43-year-old Son Tan Nguyen was shot during a robbery Thursday. They said the incident happened just after 9:30 a.m. at a residence located on Tampa Drive in Nashville.

According to police, the four suspects entered the home while fish was being delivered to the residence. They said two of the suspects held the delivery men downstairs at gunpoint and shots were reportedly fired upstairs.

Nguyen was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where police said he is in critical condition. The suspects reportedly fled the home with a laptop and a purse.

Officials said the motive for the crime is under investigation. They said Nguyen is serving a nine year probated sentence for an attempted second-degree murder conviction relating to a 2006 stabbing case. Nguyen has also been charged with multiple probation violations over the years, according to police.
