Family Of Murdered Wilson County Man Seeks Justice

Posted: Updated:

LEBANON, Tenn. – The family of a Wilson County man who was gunned down in front of several witnesses said they want their son's killer brought to justice.

Forty-three-year-old Ronald Johnson was shot to death on the streets of Lebanon back in October. Officials with the Lebanon Police Department said the shooting happened at 2:30 a.m. on Joseph Street.

Police said the incident could have been drug related. They said there were numerous people present at the time of the shooting, which is something that still baffles Lebanon Police.

"We know there were people there who saw what happened and know who shot our victim, and they just won't come forward and tell us and that's very frustrating," said Chief Scott Bowen, with the Lebanon Police Department.

Chief Bowen also said that the victim was forced to lay in the streets for at least 25 minutes until someone called for help.

"How as a human being you can see someone get shot and left lying and you drive off and not even call police or call for help just astonishes me," said Chief Bowen.

The victim's family has offered a $3,500 reward for any information leading to an arrest.

"I don't know why anyone would want to protect somebody that would take someone's life," said Richard Johnson, the victim's father.

Johnson said it's still difficult for him to understand.

"It's still a thing that I cannot cope with," he said. "It's pure terror is what it is."

The Johnson family said it would not rest until their son's killer is found. Police said they still do not have a motive for the crime.

Anyone with information has been asked to call the Lebanon Police Department at 615-444-2323 or Wilson County Crime Stoppers 444-JAIL (5245).
