CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The cold weather and icy conditions were big factors in weekend plans for a lot of folks throughout Middle Tennessee.

In Clarksville, the city's annual Christmas parade had to be canceled because of the weather conditions.

Event organizers said several entries and bands couldn't perform because of the cold, icy conditions. The city's Christmas tree lighting went on as scheduled, and that was good news for the dozens of people who came out to celebrate the holiday season.

"At least they got to see the tree and have some Christmas activities with the kids so they can see the tree and the downtown all it up," said Tracy Jeffrey, one of the crowd spectators.

The Montgomery County Tree lighting ceremony also took place in Clarksville, only a few blocks away from downtown.  It, too, went on, despite the cold temperatures.
