Schools Closed, Delayed Due To Ice Storm

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Several school systems in Tennessee and Kentucky will be closed or delayed Monday as a result of an ice storm.

The Dickson County School System announced it would be closed Monday, December 9. United Christian Academy in Dickson will also be closed. Other schools systems in the area announced they would open two hours late, including Benton, Houston, Humphreys, and Stewart. Houston County Academy will also open two hours late.

Several counties in Kentucky were also closed as a result of the storm. Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Trigg Counties have all announced closings for Monday. Heritage Academy in Hopkinsville is also closed.

Some of the hardest hit areas in Tennessee and southern Kentucky made the decision to close schools because of power outages and icy conditions. Dickson County, perhaps one of the hardest hit areas in Tennessee, sustained widespread power outages as a result of the storm.
