NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A fight between brothers landed one in the hospital and another in jail.

An affidavit said the victim came home to find his brother, 52-year-old Roderick Gant, standing by the front door holding a knife in his hand. The victim told police he tried to get away from Gant, but he was knocked off the porch several times.

Gant allegedly stabbed his brother several times before a neighbor heard the fight, and called police. The victim was able to get away from his brother and go to the neighbor's house to wait for police to arrive.

The victim suffered cuts to his lower back, right forearm, and his ear. Gant told police he had told his brother he would be waiting for him to return home, and he struggled to get the knife through his brother's coat, which may have saved the victim's life.

It was unclear why Gant attacked his brother.

Gant was charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $100,000.
