Fisk University Re-Accredited After Months Of Probation

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Fisk University was re-accredited Tuesday after months of probationary sanction.

Last February, Fisk fell under financial and recruitment scrutiny by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' Commission on Colleges.

Fisk president Dr. H. James Williams said the school continues to address the issues, and move forward.

"Now that we have this base accomplished, we're ready to build on it. And we talked about a Fisk renaissance, and we mean that. Now we're in a position to really do something of substance," said Dr. Williams.

The campus credited its fundraising efforts for putting it in healthy financial position. Dr. Williams said it's the first year in many that the school has turned a profit.
