SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. – A fire with massive flames destroyed a barn in Sumner County on Thursday morning.
The barn was fully involved when firefighters first got on the scene around 5:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Upper Station Camp Creek Road in Cottontown. The flames consumed the building, leaving ashes once it was put out.
Fire officials said a horse, dog and a cat were able to get out of the barn.
Cottontown Volunteer Fire Department along with Shackle Island Fire Department helped extinguish the blaze.
A nearby home was not damaged. There were no reports of injuries.
Students in the Academy of Energy and Power at Maplewood are busy getting ready for next week's Project Expo and had the opportunity to show it off some of their projects to Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper.
