Woman Accused Of Stealing From Church Daycare

Posted: Updated:

GALLATIN, Tenn. – A Sumner County woman has been arrested and charged with theft after investigators said she stole funds from a church daycare.

Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 53- year-old Donna Gregory was arrested after being indicted by the Sumner County Grand Jury for stealing funds from the Gallatin Church of Christ Daycare.

Investigators said the suspect stole approximately $35,000 over a two year period. They said Gregory began taking the money in 2011 when she was going through a financial hardship.

According to officials, the suspect used a computerized receipt to identify the deposit in the accounting system as previously deposited. They said this prevented the amount from showing up on the pending deposit lists and kept others from noticing the discrepancy.

The TBI said the suspect worked for the daycare for 14 years.

Gregory was booked into the Sumner County jail for $5,000 bond.
