Officials, Law Enforcement Announce ‘Booze It & Lose It' Campaign

Posted: Updated:

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – State officials and law enforcement announced a new "Booze It and Lose It" enforcement campaign on Friday morning.

The "Booze It and Lose It" campaign is designed to reduce impaired driving injuries, fatalities, & associated economic losses. It provides for increased law enforcement efforts and public service messages to accomplish its goal.

Impaired driving and impaired-related crashes constitute one of the nation's leading health problems. These events result in more deaths each year than do total homicides, and alcohol is a factor in 35 percent of all crashes in the United States.

The Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office joined members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, Murfreesboro Police Department and La Vergne Police Department to announce the campaign in 50 counties over the holiday season.
