Tullahoma High School Student Charged With Filing False Report
TULLAHOMA, Tenn. – A Coffee County high school student has been charged with filing a false police report after police said she claimed a gun was brought into the school.
Officials with the Tullahoma Police Department said the girl used a fellow students phone to make a false report of a gun being inside of the school. They said the report was filed at 9 a.m. Friday morning. The school was subsequently placed on lockdown due to the threat.
Investigators said they confiscated the cellphone and the student was taken to the police department for questioning. According to police, the student said he loaned his phone to a ninth grade girl who made the call.
At that point, police said they realized there was no firearm and the school was taken off of lockdown.
Police said juvenile petitions have been taken out against the ninth grader.
Students in the Academy of Energy and Power at Maplewood are busy getting ready for next week's Project Expo and had the opportunity to show it off some of their projects to Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper.
