Suspect Charged In Fatal Clarksville Hit-And-Run

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Police have made an arrest in a fatal hit and run in Montgomery County.

Officials with the Clarksville Police Department said a body was discovered around 5 a.m. Saturday by a man who was walking to work on Tylertown Road in Clarksville.

The body was later identified as 21-year-old Austin McReynolds. Investigators said he had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 26-year-old David Elliott of Columbus, Ohio. His charges include vehicular homicide, DUI, driving on a revoked license, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Elliott was being held Sunday without bond in the Montgomery County Jail.

Investigators said McReynolds and Elliott are members of the military.
