Former Lipscomb Music Director Conducts Final Performance

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The former director of music for Lipscomb University has conducted his final performance.

Music leader, James Jackson, conducted his final performance with the Bellevue Community Chorus Sunday evening. Jackson has been directing choral music  for nearly 60 years. He has been with the Bellevue Community Chorus for seven years. He said the physical strain of conducting music has become too strenuous and that it was time to pass the baton.

"I transition from conducting to get to begin to sing bass maybe, which I haven't got to do when you're out front," he said. "So, anyway I'm looking forward to that. But there's a mixed feeling."

Jackson was previously the music director for Lipscomb University. He said his goal throughout the years was to blend hearts and voices.
