December Is Busiest Time Of Year For Shipping Companies
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year for shipping companies.
On Monday, FedEx said it will ship
about 20-million packages. In addition to their some 300,000 workers worldwide,
they hired 20,000 additional workers for some extra seasonal help.
Workers said they got a
bit behind because of the recent winter weather, but have caught up. Employees said the busy
season usually kicks off on Cyber Monday.
For consumers, the last day to ship packages through FedEx Ground is Tuesday for guaranteed delivery on Christmas Eve. Express packages can be sent through Monday, December 23 for overnight delivery.
As for the United State Postal Service, the First Class Mail deadline is Friday, December 20 for Christmas Eve delivery. Pay a little more for Priority, and the deadline is Saturday. Priority Express can be utilized until Monday, December 23.
